Follow-up Comment #2, bug #38929 (project grub):
I installed the trunk. There's the same problem. Files are attached!
The 05_debian_theme is copied from ubuntu 13.04 (because it didn't exist). The
other files are not modified.
I put 3 *.pf2 files into /boot/grub:
unicode.pf2 (font size 20): this one is too large and will corrupt the boot
menu (currently used)
unicode.18.pf2: the absolute maximum font size. Menu seems a little bit
damaged but still works
unicode.16.pf2: at this size the menu looks ok
Renaming such a file from unicode.*.pf2 to unicode.pf2 is enough to change the
behavior.
