Details:
None of the currently implemented image loaders support palette or greyscale
images ("jpeg: component count must be 3"; "png: color type not supported";
TGA: "unsupported bitmap format (unknown encoding)"). Interlaced PNG images
are not supported either.
Implementing palette support will help conserve space and minimise
compatibility issues.
