Details:

Hi
with GRUB_TERMINAL=console I get this stealth message just before the grub
menu displays. The lcd panel is native 1680x1050 which is not shown in vbe
info and entering

gfxmode=1680x1050x8
insmod vbe
videotest

returns the intended 
error: no suitable mode found
as this resolution is not in vbeinfo

(nVidia nv28m 64MB)
