Follow-up Comment #12, bug #43653 (project grub):
arvidjaar, it's not used yet. I proposed a change in a bug report earlier
today.

The beauty of an environment variable is that it adds optional functionality
and doesn't make Grub depend on a particular version of ZFS utils. Grub
doesn't have to know ZFS accepts a parameter or even this variable name. At
worst, nothing changes.
