Follow-up Comment #2:
The Gegenbbauer polynomials degenerate to Chebyshev polynomials when lambda is
zero and can hence be evaluated using T_n(x) = cos(n * acos(x)) when |x| <= 1
and cosh(n * acosh(x)) otherwise. The intent here is evidently to use the
first form when |x| <= 1 but to rely on the gegenbauer recuurence relation
when |x| > 1 rather than using the hyperbolic function form. I have hence
changed the conditional expression to match this intent.
