Hi, Chris.
After getting the Japanese input working with your instructions, though, I
noticed that using Ctrl+Shift+U to write characters by their Unicode stopped
working. If I comment the exports

> GUIX_GTK2_IM_MODULE_FILE="$HOME/.guix-profile/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules-gtk2.cache"

> GUIX_GTK3_IM_MODULE_FILE="$HOME/.guix-profile/lib/gtk-3.0/3.0.0/immodules-gtk3.cache"

Ctrl+Shift+U works again after logging out and back in, but, obviously,
Japanese input breaks again.
I can live without Ctrl+Shift+U for now, though.
