Some things discovered on IRC:
"works for me with [patch below] and by running: $ ./pre-inst-env guix
environment --ad-hoc key-mon gdk-pixbuf+svg --pure -- $(which bash) -c

FYI, the python-screenkey patch also has a similar issue, this could be
