Installed gzip 1.3.12 to solve issue "Value too large for defined data type" --> still not solved

To solve issue "Value too large for defined data type" we installed gzip-1.3.12-sol25-sparc-local on Solaris 8.

Every one on the net says  it should be solved.
But it isn't.
What am i doing / is going wrong?
