You've to compile in a build direcotry, otherwise you'll hit another
bug later.. (mkdir build; cd build; ../configure; make ...)

IIRC i got the same error. Decreasing the optimiziation from '-O3' to
'-O2' helped (it seems to be a bug in gcc). You can do that in the
file 'Makeconf' in the Hurd source tree.
