I'm not sure which of the `:':s above you find problematic, but
there's a general problem with traditional URL syntax (including
":<port>") and ipv6. I don't quite remember what the recommended
solution is, but I think it's something like enclosing literal
addresses in `[' and `]', analogous to the ancient address literals in
rfc-822.
