Summary: closing the read end of a pipe is asynchronous
Original Submission: The attached test program does not trigger SIGPIPE
reliably, because closing the read end of the pipe happens asynchronously. The
write can succeed because the read end might not have been closed yet.
This makes the perl test suite fail.
