GNU tar 1.14

For those whom it may be of interest,

GNU tar compiles, and passes the default and the star based
check-suite if run as a normal user.  But it failed the
star/qucktest.sh test; which needs to be run as root.

So how the heck to you get a useful log from the test suite to show?
