I do the exact opposite in such situations: I only write scripts for
stuff that requires a lot of commands, or that I do *very* often --
precisely so I *have* to remember the commands, and thus practice my
generic command line skills, and also still know how to perform the
tasks by hand when my scripts are not available :-) (A large shell
history is a very powerful helper with remembering commands that I
already used once... ;-) )

I don't use "git rebase --interactive" for this same reason: reworking
branches "by hand" is tedious, but doing it now and then gives me a much
better feel for the Git concepts. Only when I'll have ingrained the
procudures so much that I can perform them without thinking, I'll start
using the automated way...
