hal, hald wont start

Hello

every time dpkg tries to run /etc/init.d/hal it dies with error message


invoke-rc.d: initscript hal, action "start" failed.

Whole line:
Starting Hardware abstraction layer: haldinvoke-rc.d:initscript hal, action "start" failed.

I am unable to get any other data as now log is created as far as i know... i got through
the /etc/init.d/hal script ... and looked into /lib/lsb/init-functions and /etc/default/hal
and found nothing :(

Any idea?
