In more recent installers, there is a choice between pseudo-graphical with and without double-width characters support.
Interesting. Where can I get these more recent installers?I just tried to reinstall again with the same cd, got the same problems (read below). Mine is 2013:
http://ftp.debian-ports.org/debian-cd/hurd-i386/current/ points to a May 2013 CD.
How can I get from HURD something similar to DMESG or lspci? Right now I don't have any other OSs, thus I can easily list all hardware Richard B. asked for! Otherwise I'll burn some kind of LiveCD.1) no network detected (although HURD supports my network card since years) the first is a minor problem I hope, once installed it will perhaps work,Well, the installed system uses the same drivers, so it'll probably be the same. What is that network board precisely, actually?
2) no bootloader installedThat's odd, we're mostly using the same as Linux. You can get and send us the install logs from /var/log/installer
It is.I tried to reinstall yesterday, /var/log/installer is not there. only syslog.
But I went further: I chrooted into /target and grub binaries are just not installed, it is obvious that its execution fails.
If there is a newer CD available, better get it so I can test more recent stuff isntead of 1+ year old.
