It would be nice if int:->flonum and fixnum->flonum were open-coded.
It would also be nice if they (or some alternative) were clearly documented
and implemented to have round-to-nearest/ties-to-even behaviour (or respected
the hardware's floating-point rounding mode), and to overflow by raising a
floating-point exception and returning infinity instead of signalling an error
or returning #f.
