I don't see how this is possible.  FAT doesn't have inodes (or
anything similar).  The only way to "hard link" would be to
cross-link.  Parted will scream about this!

I can't think of any other way it could do it (i.e. store all the
metadata for hard links).  OTOH, M$ seems to be creative at this
kind of stuff.  (remember long file names...? *shudder*)
