FAQ question: what version of Gnu parted supports ext3?

Dear Gnu folks and Juri,

This is a submission for both the
* Gnu parted FAQ/manual/revision history http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/manual/parted.html
and the
* ext3 FAQ (http://batleth.sapienti-sat.org/projects/FAQs/ext3-faq.html)

I was unable to find in either of these
"What version of Gnu parted added (basic) support for ext3?"
All I know is it isn't in v1.6.1 which is what I have, and that's surprising because that's 2006.
