I've been trying to get the syntax right on using tar to back up files
created or modified today. I have tried hundreds of different ways but
all fail. I then tried using an old RH 6.2 machine that is still live
on one of my customer's networks. Under version 1.13.17 the command
address@hidden rowan]$ tar -N 9/18/2004 -zcvf test.tar *
tar: AW32.ZIP: file is unchanged; not dumped
Desktop/
Desktop/Autostart/
Desktop/Templates/
Desktop/Trash/
Mail/
tar: MySQL-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm: file is unchanged; not dumped
tar: MySQL-client-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm: file is unchanged; not dumped
apache_1.3.24/
apache_1.3.24/cgi-bin/
goes down the directory structure and writes the files I want. On a Red
Hat 9 machine version 1.13.25 of tar produces an error when I pass the
same command line:
address@hidden root]# tar -N 9/18/2004 -zcvf archive.tar *
tar: More than one threshold date
Try `tar --help' for more information.
I searched the Internet for the error but came up blank.
Suggestions?
