[Bug-tar] help

i am trying to run tar-1.12.msdos.exe on my pc. my pc is running windows xp.
i get the following error when i try to run the tar program...

the ntvdm cpu has encountered an unhandled exception.

what is wrong with my pc. i can run the tar program on another xp box.
