Is there a way, when extracting, that dumps all the files to a single directory.
When we extract, we always end up with a whole path extracted.
We would rather just extract to a particular directory:
ex.
/usr/local/bin/tar -czvf /nfs/oracle_area51/eew/arch/eric_test.`date
"+%m%d%Y"` /nfs/oracle_area51/eew/eew*.*
I go to /nfs/oracle_area51/eew/arch and run:
/usr/local/bin/tar -ztvf eric_test.09292005
I end up with /nfs/oracle_area51/eew/arch/nfs/oracle_area51/eew/arch
We would like to just be able to extract the files - without directories - in
the arch directory.
Like using zip -j for a "junk" directory.
I've tried checking the HELP but nothing I have tried seems to work.
