[Bug-tar] RFE: can strip be added to the make install target?

or is this not done on purpose?

we hit one small snag with 1.15.91 - we use env RSH=ssh locally and
.91's configure picks up on that and uses it (1.15.2 and prior didn't),
it's no bid deal i just reset it when i run configure but it is just one
more thing to remember (including turning off tar's rmt which presented
us with some other problem i can't recall specifics of):

RSH=/usr/bin/rsh ./configure --with-rmt=/sbin/rmt
