[Bug-tar] incremental backups always full problem |

Greetings;
Some of us have had this conversation before, but nearly all linux users will
do a few Hallaluhya's & Hail Mary's if the patch Jean-Louis offered to write
was implemented.
This offer is in message:
<http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2008-03/msg00023.html>
I just had a kernel update change the device mapper outputs major
for /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 again, and the whole backup system blows up so
badly that the only thing I can do is fire off a script that runs amanda
non-stop for at least a dumpcycle's worth of runs. Even then it takes
another week or so to hit its final stable routine.
We really, really need this '--no-check-device' option to be available if we
are ever to have a stable backup system in place for linux users.
