To Whom It May Concern:
I am not sure if someone else may have mentioned this before or not, but I
was curious if anyone had ever suggested a new parm to allow the execution
of a command or script at the end of extraction. Basically, after all file
extraction is done, a separate shell would be forked and the command/script
run before tar exits (i.e. tar/gtar -zx -e script.sh - f tarball.tar.gz).
This could provide a sort of self-extracting installer for code delivery.
I do a lot of tools development for code management, distribution and
installation, and having a feature like this would be handy. Not sure if
this topic has come up before and been stamped down, but figured I'd
mention it as it would be a useful addition.
Thanks!!
James
