Hi all,

here are multiple bug reports for an old GNU tar bug that has recently 
affected Mandriva GNU/Linux Cooker:

This bug was originally reported on
http://www.mail-archive.com/address@hidden/msg02601.html (and a patch was 
provided) but it was not promptly dealt with and now the patch there has to be 
applied by downstream distributors after they are affected by the bug. 

Perhaps you'd like to set up an organised bug tracker for GNU tar so such bugs 
won't get lost in confusion. The bug trackers provided by GNU Savannah would 
be better than the status quo.
