[Bug-tar] Symbolic Link Error

Hi,
we encounter strange tar errors during ~ 50% of our tar operations on a
specific symbolic link.
The error message is:

tar: ./usr/lib/ipkg: Read error at byte 0, reading 4 bytes: Is a
directory

ipkg is a symbolic link to a directory which is created shortly before
the tar execution.
Tar version is 1.15.1
Before we dig deeper we would like to clarify if this could be generated
by tar or if the message is just misleading.
