Ok. I only use GPLv2/3. I've read that LGPL is becoming less accepted by GNU.
Should I request membership to the group on Savannah?

That sounds useful. If done right, we'd surely accept it if it would be GPLed.
If you're thinking of LGPL we would need more information about what other
libraries are available, what their APIs are, and what our API would be.
