I'm using textutils v2.1 under RedHat Linux v7.2. I was previously
using sort as
sort -m -k2,2n /tmp/named_pipe1 /tmp/named_pipe2 ...
but now the -m option insists on writing temp files, which clobbers
performance. Would it be possible to merge on the fly for named pipes?
