Gnutls has been a little buggy off late with lots of serios bugs that have gone 
unfixed for a while.

This could be just one of those bugs. To verify, please try connecting with 
gnutls-cli and openssl s_client on the terminal to see if the respective TLS 
libraries can handle the connection well.

You could also share the certificate file you're using with me and I can try 
out a few things on my own
