Thanks for the response. I'll try to put a simple test case together. It
may be a while before I get around to it.

I also could not find a way to check that a socket was already closed.
As a last resort perhaps add a flag to disable finalizers?

Thanks for making the zmq egg! I am getting excellent throughput and it
seems very reliable.
