Make sure you have zip also, not just gzip.

Try looking in config.log. grep ZIP config.log should give something
like:
ac_cv_path_ZIP=/usr/bin/zip
INSTALL_GLIBJ_ZIP_FALSE='#'
INSTALL_GLIBJ_ZIP_TRUE=''
ZIP='/usr/bin/zip'
