Follow-up Comment #1:

Staccato etc were causing denemo to crash on MIDI output. I have fixed this
crash in git - a MIDI file is generated now, though the staccato notes are
full length.

(Workaround if you need to use the faulty version of denemo is to use a
script:

(d-DirectivePut-chord-postfix "staccato" "\staccato")
(d-DirectivePut-chord-display "staccato" "stac")
(d-RefreshDisplay)

which will print staccato on the note it is applied to. MIDI will ignore.)

I can't find a problem with ties, please post an example if you find the
problem still there.
