Follow-up Comment #12, bug #30450 (project denemo):

I presume double clicking a .pdf file does launch something successfully?
That is what the ShellExecute thing is supposed to be doing.
The call is

ShellExecute(NULL, NULL, filename, NULL, NULL, 0)

where filename is the thing printed in the message. This is in utils.c
What happens if you create a different file assoc for .pdf?
You can do this temporarily. E.g. I have launched another copy of denemo.exe
to see that the file assoc is launched by setting it in the properties to that
.exe
