Follow-up Comment #2:
The rest is being placed automatically by LilyPond; there is a specific
LilyPond syntax for positioning rests vertically (basically IIRC you give the
note followed by /r to indicate that it is a rest). With the latest work on
Denemo we are in a position to show rests like that in the display too. So we
have all the ingredients to tackle this problem. Which is small comfort I
know. You can, by the way, hide that rest (turn it into a non-printing rest
i.e. skip), and you could probably insert a rest below using yet another voice
I would guess.
About the strange commands labelled StemUp and Down, these are internal
commands which should not be present in the menus - please ignore them.
