I did some further testing and some further fixes (quite complex,
depending on where the cursor is, what is in the position after the
cursor, when you play notes, whether they are already present, when you
depress the pedal, let it up again and/or use Alt key). 

I think there may still be some problems to do with the movement of the
cursor on pedal up. And there may still be some circumstance where the
pedal/Alt key is down and yet it changes a note in a chord instead of
inserting/deleting.

So if you can bear to git pull again and test some more that would be
great.
