This is the method I used for getting a smaller--but big-enough-to-read staff for my solo line. It worked well.

      * Then go back to the movements and change the staff sizes back to
        normal
      * Click Typeset in the Print View and choose the Default Score

It's just that if you have several movements and several solo staffs
this is a bit tedious...
