Yes, gnustep is broken in debian sid :
There is a build problem: gnustep sound server is hanging debian build
daemons. So gnustep-back have been built on only three architectures,
GNUstep apps packages have not been rebuilt yet with the new gnustep
core packages (old ones are not compatible with new directory layout and
flattened structures).
I m currently working to correct this problem.

1.7.2/0.8.8) here :
