I did some testing--the art backend still works with 2.1.7, but is broken with 2.1.8 (latest version, one week old). As I at one point upgraded from Cooker ("unstable" Mandrake-in-development resources) too many, I am now forced to either upgrade my system constantly in hopes that some of the (surprisingly few) issues will be cleared up, or re-install my system from scratch with a "stable" release of MDK. Of course, 2.1.8 ended up in Cooker when it was still in RC stage, hence my problems for some time to get art running. Sometimes, the bleeding edge will spill a lot of blood indeed.
