I don't think Marcos ment abandonning PHP 5.3.

Merely that we should focus on writing code that is PHP 5.5 compatible while loosely maintaining PHP 5.3 compatibility, not the other way around ;)

many hoster continue to use php 5.3 (eg : ovh) and the Travis service test dolibarr with php, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5

as soon as we can made test with 5.3 on travis, I consider that the minimum version is 5.3

On my side I use dolibarr with PHP 5.5.9 without any problem. We should at least put 5.4 as minimum version
