Yes and No. (that's quite a reply isn't it ?).
The Socket functions require native runtime support *just* like the
IO functions. The IO functions are *not* in the Pnet right now. I have
been trying to put in the native counterparts of the functions in
Platform.FileMethods . You could start writing Platform.SocketMethods
and build System.Net on top of that. Later we'll tackle the native
parts. (/we = /me + /you + /lots_of_others ;)
