Hello DotGNU developers,
Again a problematic thing to discuss (i spoke about it last friday on
irc but was quite unsure still on if it is welcome). What do you think
about implementing the non-ECMA namespace System.Windows.Forms along
with System.Drawing?
Besides DotGNU beeing primary a webservices platform, GUI is also a very
important stuff from my point of view.
The passed days i have been working on kind of GTK-based Forms
foundation (including Application.cs, Component.cs, Control.cs, Forms.cs
and some bit of System.Drawing).
You know that Mono already has GTK bindings (GTK#) that will be used for
a later Windows.Forms base. But i heard rumors (sorry, have no URLs or
other material on that) that Mono's Forms will also rely upon some
GNOME-related bindings. Although being a GNOME user myself, i think that
dependencies have to be absolutely minimal, in an ideal case *only* GTK
(including Pango for i18N, ATK for accessibility and GDK for basic
pragphs [well, an X11/DirectFB/Win32-binder at least]).
What do you think? Should DotGNU take Mono's Windows.Forms, rely upon an
own version, use just another GUI model or none at all?
