Running AUC-TeX 13.0.3 on MacOS Catalina, I cannot get Skim to open the file at
the line number I ask for. Neither does forward search work, though reverse
search works fine.

Here’s the relevant portion of my setup:

(setq TeX-view-program-selection '((output-pdf "PDF Viewer")))
(setq TeX-view-program-list
      '(("PDF Viewer"
"/Applications/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline -b -g %n %o %b")))

In my custom variables, I also have

 '(LaTeX-command "latex -synctex=1")
 '(TeX-PDF-mode t)
 '(TeX-source-correlate-method 'synctex)
 '(TeX-source-correlate-mode t)
 '(TeX-source-correlate-start-server t)

When I type C-c C-c View, the mini buffer displays (for example) the command

/Applications/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline -b -g 358 main.pdf
main.tex

When I accept this command, Skim displays the correct PDF file, but just shows
the first page, not the page containing line 358.

Interestingly, if I go to the command line and run the exact same command from
the TeX file directory,

/Applications/Skim.app/Contents/SharedSupport/displayline -b -g 358 main.pdf
main.tex

Skim opens at the correct page with the correct line highlighted. I’m not sure
why I should get different behavior from the same command.

In case it matters, I’m running Skim version 1.6.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Richard Stanton

Thanks for your response. So I'm closing this report for now. We can
reopen or file a new one if you face the issue again. Again, sorry it
took so long.

Best, Arash
