I'm currently using a recent CVS head version of emacs on NT, and I've
recently (like in the past month or so) noticed a new interaction with
global-auto-revert-mode (which I use) and version control (CVS, in
particular). Whenever I `C-x v u' to revert a file to the version in
the repository, I end up with a buffer which CVS thinks is modified,
with "%*" in the mode line (don't know what that means). Because I
have CVSREAD set in my environment, the underlying file is read-only,
which makes this not just wrong, but inconvenient. The same problem
occurs when I revert the file through pcl-cvs.
