Could you explain why you're calling the subdirectory (or subtree, to look at it another way) a branch?
That is a peculiarity of the subtree merge: it renames all files with a prefix.
Thanks, that makes sense, I guess. I have checked, it's the same in my toy composite repository, and it works fine with 'git subtree push'.
