I agree. John is a very smart Emacs hacker. IIRC he is the author of
(at least) align.el, cal-bahai.el, eudcb-mab.el, isearchb.el,
pcmpl-cvs.el, pcomplete.el, remember.el, timeclock.el, Eshell, and the
`use-package' macro. He has also contributed to Org and some other
Emacs packages. I think most Emacs users have used his code. Besides
Emacs Lisp, he's also quite familiar with many other languages, such as
Common Lisp, C++, Java, and Haskell.
