Master, on 3.2.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.2.86-1 i686 GNU/Linux. Sorry,
I should have sent this information first. For me, the file ~/.authinfo
just has to exist - it can be empty - for url-auth-tests to succeed.
