I would like Emacs to have the features of LibreOffice -- at least for word processing and slides.
It would take years to get there, but I hope to see it during my lifetime.
Absent better design ideas, I would like to suggest the WordPerfect implementation which went extinct on OS/2 for looks and feel. The artists at Apple did legally dead lift looks and feel from Xerox, and Microsoft turd did do Apple but uglier in every way possible for Windows. [1] [2]
The way Org Mode exports HTML/CSS and Emacs does Plain TeX for PDF is very close and it should be reachable before this decade is out.
