Me too.  Which is why I ported Findutils long ago (the available ports
were abysmally slow).  I have an updatedb job running every week until
this day.

I do use ls, regardless of Dired (which doesn't need it on Windows).
That's about the only Coreutils program I ported myself; for the rest
I use an old GnuWin32 port, which is quite adequate -- ls was the
single exception.
