100% correct.

And if that happens anyway and a user says so, the equivalence
of "I thought it was better before", we should never say "use
program X instead", that should instead be handled within
Emacs since that's what caused the change.

The bug should of course not be re-introduced, but its
solution should be transparent so the user experience will be,
if desired, unchanged.
