Understood. I’m on board. Would it make sense to continue this
discussion in Bug#76978
(https://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=76978)? That way,
interested parties can follow up there, and I can ask more specific
technical questions about contributing to package.el.
